I explore how items—once cherished, then discarded—find new meaning in my care. I collect and frame these items, elevating their significance and reflecting on my own longing for a tangible connection to childhood. I can recall the circumstances through which each item was brought to me, how long I have held onto them, and what was happening in my own life at the time. Through this process, these materials are absorbed into my own personal history, rewriting their past and becoming a surrogate for what I have lost, allowing me to reconstruct my identity through materiality. I find myself drawn to objects such as doll parts, vintage toys, and domestic ephemera, often donated from the homes of mothers or grandmothers who have passed.
